Delightfully delectable since 1932

VDB has a very long tradition. The Vandenbroeck family’s original company was founded way back in 1932. At the time, ice cream was still a luxury product and not so easy to obtain. People didn’t have freezers either. The ice cream back then was made fresh by the ice vendors and immediately sold on flat wafers. The well-known cones came over from Italy much later.

Evolution after WWII

Ready-made ice-cream products didn’t make it onto the market until the 1950s. From then on, ice cream could be stored at home more easily and a completely new way of consuming ice cream was created. It was not until the 1970s that ice cream was made industrially, for example by VDB.

In the meantime, VDB Frozen Food has grown into a company that can be found throughout the entire frozen goods department. Our ice cream products are still very important, but many other frozen products have been included in our range.
